The Salvation Army Waco Family Thrift Store on West Waco Drive is a treasure trove for bargain hunters.

A sign at the front of the store lets shoppers know what specific items are on sale for that day.

Wednesdays bring in the most shoppers because all clothing is 50 percent off and furniture is 25 percent off. All of the proceeds from the thrift store go to support the efforts of the Salvation Army.

“When people shop here, they are actually supporting the work of the Salvation Army. So they get a good product, at a good price, and they help support the programs of the Salvation Army,” said Major Jim Taylor from the Salvation Army. “The income that we receive is then turned around into our programs. So it may help us to help families with food, it may help us to help families with housing, or utilities, or a hot meal down at our community kitchen.”

The thrift store is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Salvation Army accepts donations for the store Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The store is also always looking for volunteers to help in the store.
