Woodway Public Safety officers were hurt during an incident while serving an arrest warrant on Wednesday.

Officers went to the home of 47-year-old Andrew Kaul, who had outstanding warrants from Woodway and Travis County for bond forfeiture and failure to appear.

When the officers arrived, Kaul ran from the officers.

Woodway officers said Kaul violently resisted their attempts to handcuff him and physically fought the officers. One officer was kicked in the head by Kaul and was taken to the hospital to undergo tests and observation. Another officer has a minor injury to the face.

Kaul was successfully taken into custody and brought to the McLennan County Jail. He was charged with aggravated assault of a peace officer, assault on a peace officer, evading arrest causing serious bodily injury and resisting arrest.
