Texas representatives were able to begin filing bills for the 86th Legislature on Monday. Over 300 bills were filed, and the number continues to grow into day two.

In 2017, almost 8,000 bills were filed in the Texas legislature. Governor Greg Abbott signed only about 15 percent of those bills into law.

Requests were also made to honor and recognize the 30th anniversary of Lonesome Dove, Jason Witten and Drew Brees.

The regular session begins on Jan. 8, 2019 and concludes on June 16, 2019.
