UMHB volleyball nets two All-Region performers

University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball players Jenna Gillean and Miranda Klein were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-West Region Team, released today.

Gillean, a junior outside hitter from Midland, Texas (Midland H.S.) is earning her first all-region award. She was named 2018 ASC West Division Most Valuable Player, All-Conference and First Team All-West Division. Gillean was also named to the ASC All-Tournament team. She ranks eighth in the ASC with 331 kills, averaging 2.96 kills per set and tenth in the ASC with 398 digs (3.55 digs per set.) She’s added 21 assists, 30 service aces and 39 blocks so far in her first year with the Cru.

Klein, a junior setter from Georgetown, Texas (East View H.S.), is earning her second All-West region award. Klein was a Second Team All-West Division selection and earned MVP of the 2018 ASC Championship Tournament. Offensively, Klein has 232 kills (2.05 kills per set) and 555 assists (4.91 assists per set) on the season. She’s added 34 service aces, 366 digs and 95 blocks in her junior campaign. Klein has 13 double-doubles and one triple-double so far in 2018.

UMHB returns to action in the 2018 NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament on Friday, November 9th at Berry College in Mount Berry, Ga. The Cru will play Birmingham-Southern in the First Round at 5:30 p.m. (ET). More information about the tournament is available at cruathletics.com.
