COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 13 Texas A&M Aggies host the North Texas Mean Green in an NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship first round match Friday, November 9, the NCAA announced Monday. Start time at Ellis Field is slated for 7 p.m.

The Aggies are one of four teams to make it to every NCAA Tournament since 1995. The other schools include North Carolina (1982-2018), Virginia (1994-2018) and Penn State (1995-2018). Texas A&M head coach G Guerrieri and North Carolina’s Anson Dorrance are the only two head coaches to appear in every NCAA Tournament since 1995.

Texas A&M is 15-4-1 on the season and the Maroon & White finished tied for third in the SEC with a 6-3-1 league ledger.

The SEC received nine bids, trailing only the ACC’s 10 for the tops in the country. In addition to the Aggies, the league is represented by Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

The winner of the Texas A&M-North Texas match will play the winner of TCU-BYU in second round play next weekend.

The Aggies own a 12-match NCAA Championship unbeaten streak at Ellis Field, with the last postseason home loss coming in 2007. Last season, Texas A&M beat Lamar, 1-0, in the opening round. The following weekend, the Aggies played Notre Dame to a 2-2 draw before their season ended in a penalty kick shootout.

North Texas is 15-2-3 on the season. The Mean Green are embarking on the program’s sixth NCAA Tournament appearance after topping Southern Miss, 2-1, Sunday to claim the 2018 Conference USA Tournament title. North Texas finished 8-1-1 in league play to finish tied with Florida Atlantic on top of the C-USA standings.

Texas A&M is 4-0-0 all-time against North Texas with all four prior meetings coming in College Station. The teams last faced off in 2015 when Karlie Mueller scored a golden goal with 1:05 remaining in the second overtime period.

The teams have two common opponents this season. Texas A&M beat Santa Clara, 4-0, and suffered a 1-0 loss to Alabama. North Texas played Alabama to a 1-1 draw and dropped a 1-0 decision to Santa Clara.
