Two Cameron Park Zoo animals are dead after an incident Tuesday.
The zoo said that an incident involving a male white-tailed deer and collared peccary resulted in the death of the two peccaries.
Peccaries are medium-sized hoofed pigs.
When zoo staff tried to diffuse the situation, it was too late.
The peccaries and deer have been exhibited together for the past year, according to the zoo. This is the first incident between the two.
