The Texas A&M softball team opened the fall season with a pair of victories against Blinn, 4-1 and 5-1, Tuesday at Davis Diamond.

In game one, Kelbi Fortenberry led off the game with a solo home run to center, before the Aggies added a run in the third on an Ashlynn Walls single to right, scoring Morgan Smith. In the fourth, Sarah Hudek roped a one-out triple down the right field line and later scored on a Baylee Klingler infield single. Walls capped off the scoring with a solo homer in the fifth.

Kendall Potts earned the win after allowing just two hits and an unearned run with five strikeouts in five innings. Hannah Mayo earned the save as she struck out two and didn’t allow any hits in two innings of work.

In the nightcap, Taudrea Sinnie gave the Aggies an early 1-0 lead in the first as she scored on a Fortenberry groundout after reaching base on a walk. In the third, Sinnie singled to shortstop and recorded her third stolen base of the game before touching home on a Riley Sartain infield single.

Texas A&M tacked on two runs in the fourth on three singles by Klingler, Gabby Moreno and Payton McBride. Moreno blasted a triple to left off the wall and touched home on a passed ball to conclude scoring for the Aggies.

McBride recorded the win as she only allowed three hits and one walk in five innings. Kayla Poynter threw two innings in relief, allowing two walks, two hits and one run while striking out two.

Five Aggies had multiple hits on the night, highlighted by Hudek, who went 2-for-4 with a triple, double and run.

The Aggies return to action Thursday and Friday with 10-inning games against Galveston College and Temple College respectively. Both games are slated to begin at 5 p.m.
