Statewide training exercise slated for FBI, DPS

Don’t be alarmed if you see more law enforcement, medical services and emergency management from Oct. 28-30 at noon until 5 p.m.

The four Divisions of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (Dallas, El Paso, Houston and San Antonio) and the Texas Department of Public Safety will be leading a statewide Full-Scale Training Exercise (FTX).

Many locations across the state will have sites participating, including Greenville, Brenham, San Antonio and El Paso.

This training is in place to ensure the ability of federal, state, local, tribal and territorial jurisdictions to respond to complex terrorist attacks with a focus on integrated response planning among law enforcement, medical services, emergency management and other whole community stakeholders. 

They only ask that the public avoid areas where the training is taking place — where out of the ordinary activity may occur related to the exercise, including role players portraying attackers and victims. More detailed information will be coming to these areas.
