Bryan police are looking into a major accident that left one man dead.

Officers responded to the 3900 block of Hwy. 47/Riverside Pkwy. around 9:15 last night.

They say a driver in a Ford F-450 work truck was heading northbound when a Chevy Suburban going the wrong way hit them head on.

That caused the truck to hit a four-door Cadillac in the northbound right-hand lane, which caused it to roll onto its cab.

An off-duty constable drove up to the scene of the accident and saw that the cab was on fire.

They put out the flames and helped medics get the driver out of the truck.

That driver was taken to CHI St. Joseph Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Two adults and two children inside the Cadillac were also taken to CHI St. Joseph Hospital.

They were treated for minor injuries and released.

The driver of the suburban, a 46-year-old man, died at the scene.

His name has not been released yet, pending notification.

Police believe alcohol contributed to this accident.
