A Waco man was taken to jail after he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in September.

According to the arrest affidavit, the victim was at the man's apartment on Sept. 19 when he made a physical advance toward her. The victim told him she was not interested, but then the man used force to hold her down on the bed, rip off her clothes and sexually assault her.

During a forensic exam, the victim was seen with bruising and abrasions on her body.

Investigators called the man, identified as William Akeem Smith, who told them he was nervous about going to the police department for fear of being sent to prison.

Smith admitted over the phone that he knew the victim. He said there was an incident with her at his apartment and that he had sex with her, the affidavit says.

Smith scheduled an interview to discuss the incident with police but did not show up for his appointment.

The affidavit also says his sister called the victim and asked her to drop criminal charges against him.

A warrant was issued for his arrest on Sept. 21. Smith was later arrested on Oct. 14 for sexual assault. He was taken to McLennan County Jail and held on a $10,000 bond.
