On Friday, Lieutenant General Paul E. Funk II provided an update on the success of Operation Inherent Resolve in the Middle East.

Beginning in August 2017, LTG. Funk spent more than a year in the Middle East leading Combined Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve with one major goal: to defeat ISIS.

"ISIS is defeated completely, less their ideology which we must maintain vigilance against. There must continue to show people that there is hope on the other side that there is a different way of life that there is a path full. So, militarily ISIS is defeated," said LTG. Funk.

Once ISIS was defeated, units overseas worked to train Iraqis and Syrian military personnel.

Last month, LGT Funk returned to Fort Hood.

On Friday, he presented the State of the Corps to community leaders.

"Our number one priority as driven to me by the Chief of Staff of the army is readiness. My mission is to get ready for whatever's next,"  said LTG. Funk.

LTG. Funk said it all starts with being prepared.

"Your army is that line of defense and you and me all need to look to it to grow and make it the best army it can be. That means it needs resources. It needs time. It needs good men and women," said LTG. Funk.
