Two confirmed tornadoes touched down near Crawford on Tuesday

Two tornadoes touched down in Crawford on Tuesday, the National Weather Service confirmed.

The NWS said that the first short-lived tornado was given a rating of EF-0. It occurred at 8:16 a.m. and lasted for about a minute.

The estimated peak wind reached 70 mph.

The tornado traveled north into a field and caused minor tree damage. 

The tornado path began around the Prairie Chapel Road area near Bluff Creek and traveled parallel to Highway 317. It traveled about 0.16 miles and was 10 yards wide.

The second tornado touched down at 8:38 a.m. just west of the intersection of Simpson Road and Highway 317. It lasted for less than a minute.

It was also given a rating of EF-0 and had an estimated peak wind of 70 mph.

The second tornado traveled 0.10 miles and had a path width of 10 yards wide.

There was no damage by the second tornado reported.
