The Waco Metropolitan Planning Organization Technical Committee met Thursday afternoon to discuss the pavement and bridge targets.

They discussed the targets that the state of Texas proposes to all metropolitan planning organizations. The state has targets that have these maintenance requirements for major facilities.

The Waco MPO has a list of facilities that include I-35, U.S. 84 and Loop 340, just to name a few.

MPO officials say that the targets are in pretty good shape, but the percentage of pavements are a little less than that of the state.

"This is what the state of Texas feels they can reasonably achieve in the year 2022 and for the most part, we concur with those targets and we think that our region should be consistent with what the state feels is achievable," said by Christopher Evilia, the director of the Waco MPO.

The committee has until the end of November to adopt a target.

They plan to present to the Metropolitan Planning Organization Policy Board on Oct. 18.
