Belton High School issued a "soft lockdown" Wednesday to address a disruptive student.

Belton ISD spokesperson Elizabeth Cox said the soft lockdown was issued at 11 a.m. It was issued because staff members were addressing a disruptive student.

The lockdown lasted 30 minutes.

Officials say that a soft lockdown is when students remain in classrooms and continue their lesson, as well as not being allowed out.

The lockdown's purpose was to limit student movement around campus, Cox said.
