One person was taken into custody after he shot at water workers in Mart on Tuesday morning. The man, Sheldon Gridley, has been charged with three counts of terroristic threat and deadly conduct.

McLennan County Chief Deputy David Kilcrease said the workers were repairing a leak in the 800 block of Lakeland Park Circle around 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

Gridley saw the workers on his property and told them to leave. When the utility workers approached him to find out what he was trying to say, Gridley threatened to kill them.

The utility workers fled, and one worker was left at the water leak. The homeowner began shooting a rifle. McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara said that they don't know what direction he was shooting.

The utility workers were in uniform and were driving a marked van.

"They were very frightened," the sheriff said. No one was injured.

The sheriff's office found five casings and seized the rifle.

Gridley was taken into custody by the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office is continuing to investigate the incident.
