A Central Texas Volunteer Committee is holding a reception tonight to thank local volunteers for all their hard work.

The Keep Killeen Beautiful committee hosted its annual reception to show appreciation to all the people and organizations who have adopted roads and parks all over Killeen.

After a free meal from Jason’s Deli in Killeen, folks were presented with certificates and even trophies for things like most trash picked up and largest number of volunteers.

Committee members said the adopt a road and adopt a park programs are extremely important to keeping Killeen beautiful.

“The City staff, there’s just not enough of them to really get to the detail of cleaning up that trash. They go out there and they mow and things of that sort but, there’s just so much out there to clean up,” said committee member, Peter DiLillo.

The committee said tonight’s event helps to show how much the city appreciates the hard work of the volunteers.

Adding, they are always looking for more people willing to help out.
