Killeen ISD held a workshop meeting to review the proposed design plans for the new high school and possible renovations to existing schools on Tuesday.

Residents in Killeen saw the nearly half a $1 million proposed designs the school district voted to approve upon in May.

The district has already made some renovations and safety upgrades to current campuses but said there is a lot more work to be done.

District officials said Tuesday's meeting takes them one step closer to making these improvements a reality.

“Its really been an overall great team effort. With our architects, now with our construction management firms, district staff, even students involved in this process and our community. So, it’s really exciting to see the future begin to take shape,” Superintendent John Craft said.

The district said the new high school should cost around $121 million and they hope to break ground on the project in October 2019.

The board has not yet approved designs or budget for the upcoming projects.
