Boil-water notice issued for San Angelo, city of 100K

SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) - A boil-water notice has been issued for a West Texas city of more than 100,000 residents as crews worked to fix a water main break.

Officials in San Angelo say the boil water notice continued Wednesday. Municipal water users were urged to limit their consumption following Tuesday afternoon's break.

Authorities say utility crews initially had issues locating the break in an isolated area of southwest San Angelo, leading to depletion of much of the water system's normal pressure. San Angelo officials had no immediate timetable for completing the repairs.

The city advisory says water for drinking, cooking and making ice should be boiled and cooled. Bottled water was another option.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality will help determine when the San Angelo municipal system has returned to normal.
