Copperas Cove Independent School District has called for a tax ratification election.

Copperas Cove ISD has adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year's tax rate.

The district will hold an election allowing its registered voters to determine whether to approve the adopted tax rate.

If passed, the District says the measure will not raise taxes for Copperas Cove residents.

Instead, it will shift existing tax dollars to the operations side of the budget and add as much as $4.1 million from the state to be used to pay for operational needs of the district.

Election day Sept. 8, and you can cast your vote at the Coryell County Justice Center. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
