Last season the Clifton Cubs hosted Crawford and escaped with a 21-20 win. This year, head coach Chuck Caniford wants the same result with a better follow up effort the next week.

"We beat them last year and then didn't play well the next week. what we're looking for is consistency and consistency of effort."

Clifton is a senior-led team with a talented backfield made up of Mason Brandenberger and Alfredo Rodriguez.

Both players drive the Cubs offense, but the team knows Crawford will be different from their week one game against Crawford. That doesn't mean they're expecting a different result.

"You know there always a good team no matter what and since we've had a good week of practice so far I think it should be the same result as last year," said senior defensive back Jackson Phillips.

The game kicks off Friday night in Crawford at 7:30.
