The Salado community has banded together to raise money for a fellow member of their community.

Salado High School cafeteria worker Cheryl Kuykendall was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer earlier this year.

Salado ISD has raised money for her medical expenses by taking enchilada orders.

Barrows Brewery is holding an event with an auction and live music in two weeks, and all proceeds will go towards Kuykendall's medical expenses as well.

Kuykendall has worked in the cafeteria at Salado High School for the past 10 years and has made a large impact on the community.

“She brightened everybody's day. By her contact with other employees and just her positive interaction with them and our students. She’s just been a sweet, gentle and kind person that has brightened everybody's day,” superintendent Michael Novotny said.

If anyone would like to donate, visit her GoFundMe page for more information.
