Player injured during scrimmage game between Rusk, Tatum Friday night

RUSK, TX (KLTV) -

A player was injured on the field Friday night during a scrimmage game in Rusk.

Tatum traveled to Rusk for the scrimmage game. Coach Darren Hylander says that player DJ Horton went down during a tackle in the 4th quarter. When he was attended to by staff on the field, he complained of back and neck pain, Hylander said. He said he did not lose consciousness and was alert and responsive.

Horton was stabilized and taken by EMS to the hospital in Jacksonville. From there he was taken by ambulance to CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances in Tyler for treatment.
