A man was arrested in connection to a shooting near the Harris Community Center in Belton on Aug. 8.

According to Belton police, 29-year-old Eric Anzaldua was arrested and charged with deadly conduct on Friday.

On Aug. 8, officers responded to a call at 7:05 p.m. of a shooting at the Harris Community Center at 401 N Alexander Street. Officers said the shooting happened in the front of the building.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found one man with a gunshot wound to his back around the corner of the building. There was no suspect in sight.

The City of Belton said the victim entered the community center after he was shot and asked for help from a yoga class, which was renting a room and had the door locked. The instructor called 911 to assist the man.

He was alert and speaking, and was transported to Baylor Scott & White for his injury. He was not cooperating with authorities, according to Belton police.

Police said the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident and is not connected with any activity of the building.
