The Killeen City Council held a special meeting to hear the city manager’s budget proposal for next year on Tuesday.

Officials said they have been working to balance the budget for the past few years and they believe they have gotten close without having to raise taxes or utility fees.

They are still working to further fund things like road projects and public servants. The city said balancing the budget is the first step to improving Killeen all-around.

The city council has 45 days to adopt the new budget and they are encouraging citizens to give their input at a public hearing on Sept. 4.
