A 20-year-old Waco man admitted to officers that he started a grass fire in Woodway because he was bored.
Woodway Public Safety officers said they were checking on the man, identified as Adrian Daniel Maxey, because he was running through traffic across Highway 84.
Maxey ran away from the officers, leading them on a chase.
Officers learned the man started a grass fire in the median of the 6000 block of Woodway Drive and Highway 84.
The fire was extinguished without incident.
The suspect admitted to igniting the fire, saying he did it because he was bored, Woodway Public Safety officers said.
He was booked into the McLennan County Jail on arson and evading arrest charges.
