Copperas Cove Parks and Recreation held a town hall meeting on Wednesday to update the community on their ongoing efforts to improve the parks around town.

Copperas Cove citizens are going to start seeing some improvements to their local parks.

They’re still in phase one of a five-phase process. Phase one consists of installing monument signs with the park's name and address, as well as paved parking lots.

The city said signs and paved parking lots, which were just dirt lots until now, are not the only changes people will notice.

“You’re also going to see paved walking trails throughout this park system. Which again, if you look and go back through the old needs assessment, hike and bike walking trails was a huge request and a desire of the community,” Director of Copperas Cove Parks and Recreation Joe Brown said.

The city is also creating a master plan that will give future leaders a roadmap for the park system’s future.

Officials hope to have the full five phase improvement process completed in 2021.
