The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and lake officials held a public information meeting about Belton Lake on Tuesday.

The meeting was to keep the community up to date on their plans for the lake.

People were given a chance to ask questions and voice their concerns after listening to a short presentation on the new master plan and viewing layouts of the lake, before and after the changes.

Lake officials said there aren't any changes that will affect lake goers.

“The recreational areas are still going to be the recreational areas. The lake level is still going to be where the lake level is. People are still going to recreate. It's more of a change in terminology to bring the master plan up to date with today’s terminology, more than anything else,” Lake Manager Ronnie Bruggman said.

Lake officials said a large part of updating the master plan is to designate and preserve natural areas and the habitats of endangered species.

The master plan hasn’t been updated since 1970.
