Three Salado High School students were taken to the hospital after band practice on Monday.
According to Superintendent Michael Novotny, three students were taken to the hospital to receive heat exhaustion treatment after practicing for about 30 minutes out in the heat on Monday.
There were also “several others” who got sick but did not have to go to the hospital.
Normal band practice is from 3 – 8 p.m. and students practice outside from 6 – 8 p.m. Novotny said it was a combination of it being the hottest day in Central Texas history and the first day of band practice.
They are set to practice on Tuesday but will be taking more precautions and may not go outside at all.
