The City of Waco is urging China Spring residents to conserve water, including reducing irrigation, during the extreme heat this week.

The city says conserving water will help avoid potential mandatory water restrictions.

Because of the heat, water demand has drastically increased, especially in the China Spring area, says Larry Holze, spokesman for the City of Waco.

Holze says a 48-hour relief in water demand will allow storage tanks to fully recover.
