The National Commission on Military, National and Public Service met with local leaders and the public to talk about the needs of the community.

Leaders from Mission Waco, Antioch Community Church and OneStar foundation talked about wanting to see more opportunities of service for youth.

The leaders also discussed what they see in the Central Texas community when it comes to serving others.

This is the seventh stop for the commission on a two-year effort to talk about service across the United States.

"We have to go to many different places to get the viewpoints of what are the obstacles to service, what is the value of service, and then formulate recommendations that we will bring back to Congress and the President in order to increase the propensity or ethos to serve. Our vision is for every American to be inspired and eager to serve," Joseph Heck, Chairman of the National Commission on Military, National and Public Service, said.

The commission will develop recommendations for Congress and the President by 2020.

Waco was the second stop on Thursday for the commission, they also met with Cranfills Gap. They will meet with Fort Hood on Friday.
