Police arrest man in connection to pipe bomb found in Killeen neighborhood

Killeen police said they have arrested a man in connection to a suspicious device found in a Killeen neighborhood last week.

Police said 36-year-old Christopher Rodney Lee Deborde was arrested on July 16 and charged with possession of prohibited weapons - improvised explosive device, which police say was a pipe bomb.

He is in the Killeen City Jail awaiting transport to the Bell County Jail.

Suspected explosive devices were detected and removed in Killeen on July 11.

According to Killeen Police, they received a call around 2:32 p.m. from a Bell County Constable on the 4400 block of Maggie Drive. Constables told police they were in the area for a civil process when they were notified of devices from a witness.

Officers arrived and secured the scene. Surrounding residences were evacuated.

The Fort Hood EOD team was called to assist, and they cleared and removed devices from the scene, according to Killeen Police. 

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and explosives was there to assist as well.
