Family, friends and first responders spent the day celebrating the life of Calvert Police Officer James Arrick Jr.

On Monday, they gathered at the Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown to say their goodbyes before heading to his favorite McDonald's to celebrate his life.

Arrick was an officer with the Calvert Police Department since 2016. He died on the Fourth of July when his pickup truck ran off the road and crashed into an 18-wheeler.

"James will be truly missed. He will always be James, Officer James Arrick. Retired badge number 1743,” Calvert Police Chief Mike Hoyt said.

Officer Arrick was 32-years-old and left behind his wife. The two were married in 2017.

The Calvert Police Department said Arrick’s badge number, 1743, will be retired.
