One person has been arrested after Corsicana police responded to report of a shooting, and smelled marijuana early Wednesday morning.

Police said around 2 a.m., they arrived at the home in the 1200 block of W. 11th Avenue and learned the suspects ran from the location. Officers searched, but did not find the suspects.

It was reported that multiple people entered the victim's home and assaulted the victim with handguns. The victim fled to a neighbor's house.

The neighbor and the victim returned to the home, and multiple shots were fired. They were not hit by gunfire.

Before leaving the scene, suspects left a personal cell phone and a pistol used in the incident, police said.

While investigating the incident, officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana at the victim and neighbor's homes. Officers obtained a search warrant and found narcotics in both of the homes.

In total, officers found 12 ounces of marijuana and 11 grams of cocaine and about $1,300 in proceeds of narcotics sales.

One person was arrested for possession of marijuana over four ounces, under five pounds and manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.

Police are continuing to investigate and say additional charges and further arrests are anticipated.
