A judge signed an order to keep the restraining order that halted clean-up of the Coryell Memorial Hospital explosion site until July 29 on Monday.

Attorneys for an electrician injured in the Coryell Memorial Hospital explosion filed the restraining order on July 3 in an effort to retain the scene to protect evidence that could indicate the cause. The restraining order was granted.

Investigators will start going through the debris on July 25. They hope to have their investigation completed in four days.

On July 2, the hospital had announced that they were starting to clean up the scene.

Wilber Dimas suffered from burns on over 70 percent of his body

“Workers have indicated they are actively engaged in altering the hospital premises where the explosion occurred,” says Dimas family attorney Rob Ammons.  “These alterations to the explosion site are going forward despite the fact that the Occupation Safety and Health Administration and Railroad Commission of Texas and others are investigating the explosion and those investigations are not yet concluded. It’s only fair for the people most directly impacted by this tragic event have an opportunity to examine the evidence before it is altered or destroyed.”

Family attorneys Rob Ammons and Jim Dunnam requested the court order of all of the companies involved in the explosion to cease all efforts that alter, destroy, or otherwise fail to preserve explosion evidence immediately.

There was an explosion at the Coryell Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, June 26 that killed 2 people and injured 14. Some of the injured were construction workers for Lochridge-Priest, working on a $42 million expansion project.
