A man told police that he was shot by his neighbor over a barbecue pit.
Mexia police said it happened just before 3:30 p.m. near the 300 block of South Herman Street. The 62-year-old victim told police that he had been shot by his 49-year-old neighbor, Henry Sims. The two were arguing over a barbecue pit when Sims allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the stomach.
Sims was located at the home on South Herman and taken into custody.
Sims was taken to the Limestone County Jail and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as well as unlawful possession of a firearm and tampering.
