Several agencies were working to put out a large fire near the Hewitt-Lorena line Friday afternoon.

According to the Lorena Fire Department, the fire spread about 175 acres. There were 15 homes that were saved from the fire.

Two firefighters were taken to a nearby hospital to get checked out for potential heat-related issues.

According to the Waco Fire Department, a large brush fire happened at 433 Ritchie Road, near the Hewitt and Lorena border. The area is blocked.

Waco, Hewitt, Lorena, Robinson, Woodway and Bruceville-Eddy fire departments were all on the scene.

The fire was 100 percent contained by 5 p.m.

Fire agencies are still investigating how the fire started, but believe it was started by a shredder, according to the Lorena Fire Department.
