The City of Killeen's Homeless Outreach Team and Bell County's Indigent Health Services co-coordinated a community triage event for the homeless Saturday.

The goal of the event was to have services available to the homeless all under one roof so those in need could get immediate help with housing, insurance, medical care and more.

The event piggy-backed off of Liberty Christian Church's monthly meal for the homeless at Moss Rose.

The co-coordinators of the event hope it helps bridge the gap between the homeless and the services they need.

"They may not have an ID card, a social security card, sometimes they just don't have the knowledge to go through the process and so having all of the services here today, we can all work together and help them get the services that they need," Ebony Jackson, a co-coordinator of the City of Killeen Community Triage event, said.

She worked with Officer Kyle Moore of the Killeen Police Department's Homeless Outreach Team.

The next community triage event will be held in September.
