CALVERT, TX (KXXV) -

A child was located and unharmed after police said she was taken by a man who assaulted her mother.

Calvert police said it happened on June 11 at 9:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Railroad St. in Calvert.

Police found the child's mother, 18, had been assaulted by the suspect, Treveon Hawkins, 27. The victim told police that Hawkins had taken her 4-month-old daughter in the process of fleeing the scene. Hawkins was not the child's father and did not have permission to take the child.

Hawkins was arrested at an apartment in the 3600 block of Wellborn Road without incident. The child was unharmed.

Hawkins faces assault causing bodily injury and kidnapping charges.
