The identity of the man found inside a car recovered from the Brazos River over the weekend has been released.

Waco Police said 38-year-old Victor Hugo Gonzales Flores, of Waco, was found inside a 2009 KIA Rio. Police believe the vehicle drove off the roadway, over the river walk and into the river.

Waco police said it happened Saturday morning near University Parks Drive and Webster Ave around 2:40 p.m.

Police said a jogger had noticed damage to the railing. Sonar equipment used found a car underwater. When it was pulled from the water, the body of a 38-year-old man was found inside.

Police believe the victim was traveling on Webster at a high speed and crashed through the railing.

The car was recovered from 12 feet under the water's surface.

The Morgan's Point dive team assisted in the recovery.

Gonzales' body has been sent for an autopsy.
