The Bellmead Police Department arrested a 38-year-old man after they say he physically assaulted a woman on Thursday.

According to Bellmead police, they found a victim there that appeared to be injured. The victim told officers that Douglas Slaughter caused her injuries.

The victim gave the officers the vehicle Slaughter was in and officers tracked him down. When police found him and attempted to stop the car, he kept going.

An item was discarded from the car before Slaughter pulled over. Sky Moore, 19-years-old, threw what was believed to be narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia out of the car before they stopped.

Through the investigation, police said Slaughter and the victim were verbally arguing. During the altercation, he physically assaulted the victim.

Slaughter was taken to McLennan County Jail and was charged with a Class A assault, evading in a vehicle, abandoning or endangering a child and tampering with physical evidence.

Moore was also taken into custody and was charged with tampering with physical evidence.
