On June 12, Killeen ISD will be voting on a proposed 2% pay raise for teachers and other employees and authorizing the start of the districts historic $426 million construction and renovation program.

KISD board members are expected to vote to approve the hiring of architects and engineers to start work on the largest school construction and renovation effort ever built in KISD.

The construction includes an estimated $171 million high school that is expected to be under construction by February 2020 and open to students in 2022.

An estimated $44 million elementary school that will combine East Ward and West Ward elementary schools into one. Expected to be under construction by August 2019 to open to students in August 2021.

An estimated $51 million new Pershing Park Elementary School that also will consolidate Sugar Loaf Elementary School and part of the enrollment at Bellaire Elementary School Expected to be under construction by February 2019 to open to students by August 2020.

Killeen ISD Superintendent John Craft Tuesday night also will propose a budget plan that will include a 2 percent across-the-board pay raise for KISD’s nearly 3,000 teachers and all employees of the school district. The new high school will have room for about 2,500 students and is being built to alleviate overcrowding at other high schools as KISD’s enrollment continues to surge.
