A hearing on Tuesday determined that the Italy High School shooting suspect will be tried as an adult, FOX 4 said. They also said that the 16-year-old boy will be facing six felony charges.

Since he will be tried as an adult, the shooters name has been released. Chad Padilla will be transferred to adult court.

The teen was initially charged as a juvenile with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after shooting a 15-year-old girl in the school cafeteria in January.

The victim, Noelle Jones, was shot six times. She was airlifted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas after the shooting. She was released from the hospital on Jan. 29, according to her father.

Ellis County Sheriff Charles Edge said the teen fired several shots from a semi-automatic .380. He was confronted by an Italy ISD staff member before fleeing the cafeteria. He was stopped shortly while still on school grounds.
