TEMPLE, TX (KXXV) -

Water restrictions have been lifted for areas within the city of Temple east of Interstate 35.

The City of Temple said the restrictions came as a response to a leak on a "critical water transmission line." As of 3 a.m. Sunday, the water system has been restored to normal operations.

The city said that it is now back to stage 1: voluntary water conservation.

The Stage 4 restrictions included:

  • Prohibition on irrigation of landscaped areas;
  • Prohibition on use of water to wash any motor vehicle, motorbike, boat, trailer, airplane or other vehicle;
  • Prohibition of filling, refilling, or adding of water to swimming pools, wading pools, and Jacuzzi-type pools;
  • Prohibition of the use of water for construction purposes from designated fire hydrants

The city posted that some residents would see mostly air in the lines, which could appear as a milky color.

The city said that air in the lines would decrease over the next few days.
