Lampasas fire crews responded to apartment fire

Lampasas fire crews responded to a complex fire at the River Park Village East Apartments Thursday afternoon.

The fire started at one unit on the bottom around 1:30 p.m. and quickly took over the next unit, according to officials. These units were total losses.  Six other units were damaged in some way but were not total losses.

According to officials, Fire Chief Oestreich took command on the scene and requested off-duty Lampasas FD personnel, Kempner VFD, Acadian EMS and Lampasas police. Oestreich also ordered a rescue search in the apartments and confirmed that all occupants were safe.

The fire was out of control and with the temperature at 97 degrees, it aggravated the fire. It took 30 minutes to get the fire under control and even longer to get fight the hot spots.

There were no injuries in the fire and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
