Baylor men’s tennis concluded its collegiate season after junior Johannes Schretter retired from his match in the NCAA Singles Championship Wednesday evening at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Down 7-5 to Wake Forest’s Skander Mansouri before a rain delay, Schretter officially retired due to injury prior to the second set.

Schretter compiled a 24-14 overall record and was 13-7 in dual-match play. The Graz, Austria native won six matches against ranked opponents this season.

Schretter’s withdrawal also forces BU to exit the NCAA Doubles Championship draw. No. 15 Schretter and partner Will Little went 13-10 this season and 8-8 at the No. 1 spot.

They boasted a 5-4 record against ranked opponents in 2018 with the biggest coming against then-No. 7 Victor Pham and Jackie Tang of Columbia in the Bears’ matchup against then-No. 14 Columbia at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships on Feb. 17.

The duo was ranked as high as No. 2 this season.
