There will be increased security at China Spring High School this week after a threatening message was found on campus last month.

Superintendent Marc Faulkner said the message found on a toilet read "May 24, 2018, shoot up the school," in the boy's bathroom on April 23.

The FBI, McLennan County Sheriff's Office and Waco Police Department have been investigating the threat, but have been unable to find the suspect. A reward for information leading to an arrest was offered, starting at $100 and then later raised to $1,000, but they were still unsuccessful.

A handwriting expert was brought in to investigate the source of the threat but was unable to locate who wrote it.

The district brought in extra security on April 24 just in case the message was actually intended for April.

There will be increased security on campus all week with eight officers stationed at the school, Faulkner said. No bags will be allowed at school this week.

Parents may decide to keep their students home on Thursday if they would like.

Faulkner said students are taking tests this week. There will be a make-up exam for students who chose not to come to school on Thursday on June 4. Those students will not be punished for missing tests.
