Police: Resident of apartment shoots man who entered home, displayed pistol

WACO, TX (KXXV) -

The Waco Police Department said that a man was shot after he forced himself into an apartment and displayed a handgun early Friday morning. The accident happened at the Enclave at the Stadium apartments. 

Police said they received a call that a man had been shot multiple times around 12 a.m. Officer discovered that a man knocked on an apartment door and asked for an individual who was not there. 

This interaction made one of the occupants of the apartment uneasy, so he grabbed his pistol.

A second suspect began knocking on the door about 30 minutes later. When residents opened the door, this suspect forced his way inside and started swinging a pistol around. 

Police said this lead for the armed resident to shoot at the suspect, hitting him twice. 

The suspect was taken to Hillcrest and is in surgery. He will be charged with burglary of a habitation. 

The resident who shot the suspect was questioned and released.
