Highlander Golf squad jumps up leaderboard at national tournament

The McLennan Highlanders moved up six spots on the leaderboard to third place this afternoon with a two-day total of 572 (290-282) at the NJCAA Men’s Division I National Championship at the par-72, 7,316-yard The Rawls Course in Lubbock.

McLennan sits just eight strokes behind Indian Hills and Iowa Western, tied for first with 278-286 – 564 and 277-287 – 564, respectively.

Freshman Matt Lorentzen is leading the Highlanders with 69-69 – 138 and is in third place, individually. Joe Durnford of Iowa Western is atop the individual leaderboard with 68-67 – 133.

Other McLennan scores: Micah Goulas, 17th, 74-70 – 144; Brayden Marnell, tied for 23rd, 75-71 – 146; Alex Isakson, tied for 52nd, 72-78 – 150; and Judd Tilson, tied for 57th, 79-72 – 151.
