The sheriff's office said they are responding to a near-drowning in Lorena on Wednesday afternoon. They said that a 6-year-old boy walked into a pool and took his floaties off.

His father found him and pulled him out of the water.

First responders performed CPR on the child, and he became responsive. The incident happened in the 1800 block of Southern View.

The 6-year-old was transported to Hillcrest. Sheriff Parnell McNamara said that he was fighting off EMS when they tried to put in an IV, which was a good sign.

This incident comes days after a 20-month-old walked into her family pool in Hewitt. The toddler was declared brain dead on Wednesday.
