19-year-old Victoria Bates was surprised by her bosses, co-workers and news cameras when she came in for her shift at Taco Bell and found out she won a $25,000 scholarship.
She is one of 300 employees and youth receiving a "Live Mas" scholarship this year. Over 8,000 people applied for the scholarships that range from $5,000 to $25,000.
Bates says she is proud to be an example of what you can accomplish when you try and still can't believe she won.
She plans to continue classes at Central Texas College before transferring to Texas State University where she wants to major in education.
She said she wants to be a first-grade teacher.
